Lats Congress 2021 Brings together 1,600 participants

Three days of great activity and scientific debate in the online edition of the XVIII Latin American Thyroid Congress. On the first day, the president of LATS Dr. Ana Luiza Maia officially opened Lats 2021 in the last session of the day.

The president-elect and coordinator of the Scientific Committee of the Congress, Dr. Fabio Pitoia, and Dr. Claudia Gabriela Pellizas, and Dr. Celia Regina Nogueira, from the Executive Board of the Society, participated in the online ceremony.

“It is a great honor and pleasure to start our Congress, which is our main interface between a scientific society, the public, and the scientific community,” said the president.

She talk about the evolution and growth and excellence of scientific research on the thyroid broadly across Latin America. There were many difficulties, but the event had around 1,600 subscribers.

Dr. Ana Luiza recalled that in 2019, at the opening of the Congress in Argentina, she highlighted the tireless work of universities and that it continues to be done, despite so many economic problems all the time that affect education and research. “This has not diminished the willpower of students in the field of science.”

Dr. Fabian explained that he worked smoothly and smoothly throughout the entire administration of LATS. He thanked everyone who helped to organize the scientific program and all the international speakers who accepted to participate in the online congress.
