Brazil - Salt Iodization |
|
The data presented below was kindly provided by Mrs. Yara Pereira Simoni da Silva, Coordinator of the PNCDDI / INAN. According to Mrs. Silva, during 1983-1996 the goal of the Programa de Combate ao Bocio Endemico was to keep salt iodization in the range of 10-30 mg of iodine/Kg salt. Starting 1995, the Program has changed to Progama Nacional de Controle dos Disturbios por Deficiencia de Iodo - PNCDDI - and the salt iodization range was increased to 40-60 mg of iodine/Kg salt.
