MESSAGE FROM THE LATS PRESIDENT

I have the pleasure to invite you all to participate in the VIII Congress of the Latin American Thyroid Society. This Congress has two special features, which distinguish it from our previous meetings. We have named it "Silver Aniversary Meeting", due the fact that we will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of our Society, which was founded in 1974. On the other hand, it will be the first time that three Nations (Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay) share the local organisation of a LATS congress. Foz do Iguassu City has been chosen as host for its strategic position between the three boundaries of our countries. The scientific program will maintain the traditional excellence level of our previous congresses, and the local Committee is preparing a social activity program, which will be a long lasting remembrance for all participants.

We hope to see you all in may, 1999. Meanwhile, we remain at your disposal and offer all the necessary co-operation to have you with us the LATS "Silver Anniversary Meeting" Congress.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE LOCAL ORGANIZING COMMITTEE

Dear Colleagues:

The Local Organizing Committee hopes to see you in Igassu Falls for the VIII SLAT Congress in May 1999. We are working with the goal that your visit to Igassu falls will be a memorable moment of scientific exchange information, mutual friendship and a better rapport among all colleagues of Latin-America. Iguassu Falls, with its magic nature wonders, will serve as a convergence point for all participants, will be the venue for renewal of on going projects in the Society and the site for a fresh starting point for new challengers to be faced by all in the next millennium.

For all of this, we are hoping to see you there.
