Message from the President
September-October-November 2009
Dear LATS Member colleagues,
We are glad to contact you to share interesting information about the activity of our Society.
As regards the 14th International Thyroid Congress (ITC) to be held in September 11-16, 2010 in Paris, France, you can find important announcements on the Congress website (http://www.itc2010.com). The complete Scientific Programme is available and registration has been opened, among much other news. The deadline for early bird registration is June 30th, 2010. You can easily access the 14th ITC site through LATS webpage https://www.lats.org.
During the Congress, four Plenary lectures will be given by the award winners of the four sister Thyroid Societies, American Thyroid Association (ATA), European Thyroid Association (ETA), Asia-Oceania Thyroid Association (AOTA), and Latin American Thyroid Society (LATS).
We would like to inform you that candidates for LATS award 2010 should be proposed to the Secretary to be considered by the Executive Committee. Candidates for the Prize may be proposed and seconded by any two Active members of SLAT. The proposal should include the candidate's curriculum vitae (of no more than 10 pages) and a short citation (of no more than 2 pages) indicating the nature of candidate's personal contribution to thyroid research to the Secretary. According to our rules, the LATS Prize will be awarded to an Active member of the Society who has made outstanding contributions to thyroid research over a considerable period of time.
Please, see “Files” section at the LATS website to find the conditions for LATS Prize proposals.
The deadline for proposition of candidates for the 2010 LATS Prize is February, 28th, 2010.
Young Investigator Awards will be given during the 14th ITC. The conditions have been established:
“The sister societies (AOTA, ATA, ETA, LATS) will award 8 Young Investigator Awards of 1000 euro each (4 for oral and 4 for poster presentations). For consideration for an award, the Young Investigator must be below the age of 40 at the time of the meeting and the presenter and first author of an abstract submitted to the Congress.
The applicants must tick the appropriate box during the abstract submission process.
The pre-selection will be made by the Programme Organizing Committee on the basis of the abstract score. The final selection will be made at the Congress, based on the quality of the oral or poster presentation.”
There will also be some Travel Grants to attend the Congress. We will inform you later of the application conditions for a Travel grant.
Next, we would like to emphasize that only members in good standing of the Society can apply for the 14th ITC prizes and grants as well as preferential registration fees.
