Message from the Secretary

Dear LATS Member colleagues,

We are very pleased to let you know about interesting news regarding LATS activity.
First of all, we are glad to share with you that the first step of the website for our next LATS Congress in Gramado, Brazil, 2009, is almost finished. This nice and well-designed site was constructed thanks to the effort of Ana Luiza Maia, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee and Hans Graf, LATS President-Elect and chairman of the Scientific Committee. In a short period of time the deadline and instructions for abstract submission will be announced. You can visit the site at: www.lats2009.com.br

It gives us a great pleasure to inform you that the new Editor-in-Chief of the journal Thyroid, Dr. Charles H. Emerson, has invited LATS president, Dr. Guillermo Juvenal to write some comments regarding our Society. This information will be included in the July issue of Thyroid as part of a Commentary that highlights the major thyroid organizations in the world and their annual meetings. Besides, the LATS logo will be displayed on the cover of Thyroid.

A very important point to take into account is the payment of membership dues. All of us have to bear in mind that there are substantial differences in registration fees between members and non-members at LATS Meetings. Unfortunately, members who are in debt to the Society will have to pay the same fees as non-members, including those sponsored by Pharmaceutical Companies. Nevertheless, it is worth to emphasize that the main reason to regularize the payment is to provide the necessary financial support to our Society.

Remember that you can easily pay off your debt through LATS web page.

Regards to the Thyroid journal subscriptions through LATS, we would like to inform you that they have already finished this year.
