Message from the President

Dear LATS Member colleagues:
The most important LATS Scientific Meeting is getting closer. All measures looking for the Scientific and Social success of the XII LATS Meeting, which will be held in Santiago del Chile, from April 27 to 30th, 2007, are being taken. It will be an unique opportunity to improve your knowledge on different aspects of the Thyroid field, besides seeing again old friends and doing new friendships .
We would like you to know on important details of our Meeting.
1. Registrations with discount are available until March, 31st 2007.
2. The Scientific Program, including papers accepted for Oral Presentation and running for the Merck Young Investigator Prize, Selected Posters for Discussion and all Posters selected for presentation are available at the XII LATS Meeting website through our LATS site www.lats.org, clicking on LATS XII MEETING. Authors of papers sent to our Meeting are invited to check the respective date and hour of their presentation.
Regarding the Posters, they should have 1.50 m high and 0.90 m wide, and will be placed in panels 2.40 m high and 1.0 m wide. All materials for Poster placing will be available at the local. Posters should be placed one day before (April, 27th) the official Meeting beginning or at the very early morning of the first Congress day (April, 28th). They will be displayed during all Congress days (April 28th to 30th ) and should be removed after the last Poster Session (Poster Session 3)
3. LATS General Assembly is scheduled for April 29th (Sunday) at 19h30 PM. Any member may require amendments/modifications of LATS bylaws through a letter to the Secretary-Treasurer Hans Graf (hansgraf@bighost.com.br) at least one month before the General Assembly.
4. LATS is offering 30 Travel Grants (TG, 300.00 USD each) for LATS members. The conditions to apply for a TG are:
1. to be a member of LATS (not in debt);
2. to be younger than 40 years;
3. to present the work at the XII LATS Meeting, as first author;
4. The work presented must have been done totally in Latin America.
Candidates to the TG must look for the LATS booth at the XII LATS Meeting, and let the following documents with one of our LATS secretaries, Celia or Claudia.
1. A xerox of the abstract (oral or poster) as it appears at the XII LATS Meeting Program
2. An ID copy
3. A statement of the Institution of origin, stating your status (professor, researcher, postgrad/grad student)
5. LATS Membership Dues. To update your 2007 LATS Membership Dues just click on www.lats.org and login your username and password at the bottom of the left column. Using the same access, you will be able to know in details your financial situation with LATS, clicking on Balance Statement. As you are aware, LATS properties are mainly formed by the annual fees paid by the members and the profits from LATS Meetings.
