Dear LATS Member colleagues:
We would like to let you know that new important information regarding the coming XII LATS Meeting, which will be held in Santiago do Chile, from April 27 to 30th, 2007, are already available at the LATS Congress site LATS XII MEETING.
If you want to book a room at the official Congress Hotel, just click at the left column of the LATS XII MEETING site on “Hotel Reservation”. You will find a list of Hotels, including the official Congress Hotel, with special prices which APPLY ONLY to participants attending the Meeting and with the booking deadline fixed at March, 1st, 2007. It is IMPORTANT to observe that if you want to register at the XII LATS Meeting as LATS Member, you have to be up to date with your fees with the Society.
To update your 2007 LATS Membership Dues just click on WWW.LATS.ORG and login your username and password at the bottom of the left column. Using the same access, you will be able to know in detail your financial situation with LATS, clicking on Balance Statement. According to LATS bylaws (Sec. 20): “Any member neglecting to pay dues or special assessments approved by the Executive Committee, after due notice from the Secretary-Treasurer, may be dropped from membership”. As you are aware, LATS properties are mainly formed by the annual fees paid by the members and the profits from LATS Meetings. It is our best feeling that every LATS member share with us the importance of attending our XII LATS Meeting, an unique opportunity to improve the knowledge of different aspects of the research in the Thyroid field, besides seeing again old friends and doing new friendships.
The XII LATS Meeting Scientific Program is practically ready. The oral presentation candidate papers are at the moment under the analysis of the Scientific Committee, whose dead-line to inform the Local Organizing Committee about which papers were chosen for Oral Presentation or Poster is February, 15th. No longer than February 26th, authors will be informed about their presentation, as Oral or Poster. The twelve best papers (6 Basic and 6 Clinical) will be presented at the Oral Sessions and will be running for the Merck Young Investigator Prize (Clinic and Basic, 2.000,00 USD each).
LATS assembly is scheduled for November 28th (Saturday) at 19h00 PM. LATS members interested in indicating a city/country for the XIII LATS Meeting, which will be held in 2009 are invited to present their candidature at the Assembly. The Executive Committee may change the year and the city if it is necessary for any reason. The LATS Congress must not be realized simultaneously with other international meeting. The local organizing committee will be indicated by the LATS Executive Council and should be formed preferentially by LATS members living in the host country.
