Message from the LATS Secretary-Treasurer
Sept/Oct/Nov
2004
Dear LATS Members:
In one year the most important Thyroid Meeting, the 13th International Thyroid Congress (ITC), will be held in Buenos Aires (from October 30th to November 4th,2005). From now on we will send periodic “E-mail Newsletter” to all LATS Members whose e-mail is available and correct in the LATS directory.
The organization of the 13th ITC in Buenos Aires began immediately after the closing of the 12th ITC in Kyoto in 2000. Since then, the Local Organizing Committee has worked continuously under the leadership of Dr. Hugo Niepomniszcze. The International Coordinating Committee (ICC) and the Program Organizing Committee (POC) has met regularly during the last years.
Dr. Mario Pisarev, chairman of POC, together with Drs. Ana Luiza Maia, Edna Teruko Kimura (our representatibes) and ETA, ATA an AOTA members of the POC held their last meeting in September, 2004 in Istanbul, and produced a tentative Scientific Program for the 13th ITC. The last ICC meeting, also in Istanbul, was presided by Dr. Wilmar Wiersinga, and details for the coming 13th ITC were defined by the four sister Societies.
Just as in 2003, at the X LATS Meeting in Cordoba, LATS will award at least 30 travel grants to Latin American Young Investigators (under 40 years), who present communications at the 13th ITC Meeting, as first authors.
We would like to invite all our Members to visit regularly our site www.lats.org which has been continuously actualized. Through our site you are able to access the 13th ITC home-page. The contract for upkeep of the LATS home-page, by Merck Company, was renewed in 2004
LATS has grown considerably since our Last Meeting in Cordoba, in 2003. The LATS Society now comprises 539 members. Seventy five new members were accepted since Cordoba, in provisory status (44 in 2003 and 31 in 2004).
We renew our request for all LATS members who are still in debt with the Society, to regularize their situation during November/December 2004.
My best regards
Hans Graf
LATS Secretary-Treasurer
