Message from the President
Dear colleagues:
I am pleased to contact all of you again, in order to communicate the advances regarding the organization of the next X LATS CongressAs previously announced, it will be held in the City of Villa Carlos Paz., from may 1st to 4th , 2003.
A creative three-and-a-half day program of scientific basic and clinical presentations is being designed by the Scientific Committee chaired by Doris Rosenthal. Six plenary lectures , seven symposia, 4 meet the expert sessions, 4 special topics and 3 oral presentation sessions, will cover most of the up-to-date issues in the thyroid and close related field.
The active participation of outstanding Latinamerican thyroidologists and International Lecturers will cover topics related to molecular biology of the normal and diseased thyroid cell, thyroid disfunction, thyroid nodules, thyroid hormone action, diagnosis and follow-up of thyroid cancer, thyroid and pregnancy, thyroid function in other diseases (bone, diabetes, etc), thyroid and drugs, clinical and basic aspect of the thyroid growth, thyroid and pediatry, thyroid disorders of iodide deficiencies, and many others.
The Organizing Committe chaired by Guillermo Juvenal is working very hard on the arrangements of the multiple details required to guarantee a successful event. The first announcement which include information related to abstract submission, is almost ready to be sent to all the LATS members.
An attractive social program is being prepared by the Local Committee that will make all participants of the Congress spend an unforgettable and enjoyable stay.
PORTAL DEL LAGO HOTEL , where the Congress will be held, is a special place surrounded by the beautiful hill and lake landscape of Villa Carlos Paz, the most important Córdoba tourist site.
Several local and International Airlines fly to Cordoba International Airport, distand only few minutes from Villa Carlos Paz.

Message from the Secretary-TreasurerOur LATS Society is growing fast, with the continuous incorporation of a great number of young thyroid investigators, maintaining its well stablished structure, since it was incorporated as a non-profitable organization in 1996, when LATS Secretary-Treasurer was Antonio C. Bianco.
Our site www.lats.org has worked as an excellent guide for all our members to get informations of what is going on in our Society and our sister Societies (ATA, ETA and AOTA), facilitating contact between LATS members all over Latin-America through the continuous up-dating and maintainance of our directory and other items.
Nothwithstanding all these achievements, we all know that LATS needs the continuous effort of all his members to maintain his exceptional mundial position. The coming X LATS Meeting, to be held in Cordoba, Argentina, next May 1st to 4th 2003, will be the best opportunity for our Society to strenghten his ideals. We would like to have a record number of attendees at the coming X LATS, reinforcing our convictions of the very important moment of our Society.
